Ondanks dat hij het script had gelezen realiseerde Eli Wallach zich niet dat hij 'The Ugly' was, totdat de benaming boven zijn gezicht verscheen bij de aftiteling. In de trailer wordt Van Cleef per abuis vermeld als 'The Ugly' terwijl Wallach wordt bestempeld als 'The Bad'.
